Playing jazz piano standards is actually quite easy- but people tend to over think it and often they end up not even trying!

It only takes a couple of learned principles and you can play any jazz standard you want! 


How To Play Jazz Standards

  • #1 RH plays melody
  • #2 LH play chords
  • Play short rhythms to loosen up feel in RH and LH.
  • Take liberties on melody once you know the tune well

    When you were playing chords in the right
    hand, were you playing the chord in root position,
    or were you playing the chord with the melody
    note as the top note?
