Oscar Peterson is undoubtedly one of the most burning piano players out there.

What is his secret?

If we look at this lick from “Softly as in a Morning Sunrise,” we can notice by putting it on the keyboard that it actually fits in the hand very naturally.

While it is certainly virtuosic, it is accessible because of the ease with which it can be executed.

You, too can sound like Oscar! Now, it’s time to practice!!

If you have questions or suggestions for a Lick Of The Week you would like us to do, please leave them in the comments down below.

Happy Practicing!
